Have you ever come across a difficult problem with no solution in sight? One day I found myself with a problem I had been trying to deal with. I had been dealing with a problem for sometime. However, I was letting my ego take over, and I was in a negative zone. You know the kind where every thought and feeling you have is negative. In a blink of an eye I caught myself being so negative. I could not believe it. I took a step back from my thoughts and I came to. In that moment I remembered what I use to tell myself when negative thoughts would creep into my mind. I would say, "Think on the thing you desire". So I shifted my thoughts on the outcome I wanted. I wanted to solve this problem, but in order to solve it I went a step further. I started to think on all the things that were going right in this situation. Before I knew it, I was in a better mood, and I was feeling like the answer was coming to me. Next, I let the problem go in my mind, and I started to work on something different. I was doing this to get the problem off my mind. As if by magic, I was driving home and it hit me like a ton of bricks. My mouth drop and I could not believe that the answer was in front of me the whole time. If you were riding next to me, or driving the opposite direction, and you saw my mouth drop and the excitement I was showing you would of thought I was going crazy. So next time you run into a difficult problem, relax, and think of the things that are going right. Then let the problem go and start working on something else. Before you know it, the answer will come to you. Hopefully, your by yourself the first time this works for you, and I know it will, so the people around you won't think you've falling off your rocker. I will see you at the Top!

What Are You Focusing On?

This past week I took a motorcycle safety course. One of the topics the instructors talked about was "target fixation". Target fixation is basically that which you focus on is where you are going to go. For example, if someone is riding a motorcycle and they are going into a curve and they see a tree, if they continue to focus on that tree that is exactly where they are going to go. In this course you are taught to look ahead to where you want to go. I believe this is also what they teach professional race car drivers to do. I thought it was very interesting to hear them talk about this because doesn't this also apply to our life. If you continue to focus on all the bad things that are happening to you, and all the breaks every one else is getting but you, you will continue to find yourself in disappointing situations. Instead, be grateful for what you do have. Say it out loud what you are grateful for, say it to yourself when you are on a walk and taking in the clean air, or the beautiful flowers that are starting to come up. Once you do this, you will begin to have more things to be grateful for. One thing that I have started to do about six months ago is, before I even get out of bed I start saying to myself all the things I am grateful for. I start by saying how grateful I am for my beautiful wife, and for all things she does for me, and for her belief in me. Then I go to my house and everything else I can think about. It has made such a huge difference in my life. Try it for twenty one days straight. Before you even get out of bed start saying all the things you are grateful for. You will find you really do have a lot to be grateful for. And not only that, by focusing on the good things you will be in the right "vibe" to attract even more wonderful things in your life.

Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

This pass weekend I purchased a new motorcycle. I have wanted a motorcycle for a long time. The last time I was on a motorcycle was back in 93'. I had a Yamaha YZ250 dirt bike. It was an older model and I enjoyed the short time I had with it. I ended up selling it to go to Marine Military Academy summer program. I was preparing myself for the Marine Corps. Well, for the last seven years I have been yearning to get a street bike. This weekend I took the leap and I bought a 2005 Yamaha FZ6. I could not get the motorcycle until today. Right after dinner my door bell rang and there was my new motorcycle. We got it off the trailer, and into my garage it went. Then after I completed a few things, I went to the garage and fired it up. It has been almost 12 years since I had rode a motorcycle. Okay, let me back up a bit. I have not mentioned anything about what has been going through my head this whole time. I have to admit I was a little concerned, but I knew that I could ride this 2005 Yamaha FZ6 motorcycle. While letting it run some and walking around checking things out, I then got on the bike and stepped the motorcycle into first gear. Aaahh. The sound of the motorcycle going into first gear brought back memories of when I first learn how to ride a motorcycle on a little Honda 80. I release the clutch a little while giving it some gas and there I went smoothly down my driveway. All this time I was stepping out of my comfort zone facing my fears wondering how I would do, while still having belief that I could do this. I just added another success to my list, and accomplished yet another "life" goal I had for myself. I know that by accomplishing this goal, it has now propelled me to do greater things in my life. Let me encourage you to do something out of your comfort zone. Be willing to live life to the fullest, what ever that may mean for you.

One way to keep you moving forward is to think about the successes you have had in your life. I just finished listening to the first tape of Earl Nightingale's "Lead the Field" tape series. This is like my tenth time listening to this tape series, and I continue to learn something new every time. While listening to the first tape, I was reminded about the power of our attitudes. We chose everyday the kind of attitude we will have, and the kind of attitude we have will determine our success in life. I realized that no matter what is going on in my day I can choose to carry the best attitude. How? Well, I look at it from two sides. I can either have a negative attitude, or I can have a positive attitude. Lets take for example the other day when I felt I was being pushed and pulled to meet a deadline, and other things on top of that deadline that needed to be done. I could have said this can't get done, there is no way, or I can say, I am going to get this done no matter what. I went with the "I am going to get this done no matter what attitude", and guess what, everything went fine. When I think of the word "attitude" I also think of "my thoughts". I think attitude and my thoughts go hand in hand. Like the example above, I could be thinking of all the ways my deadline and tasks were not going to get done, or I could think of thoughts that show of ways things can get done. What is thee Most Important quality to have? The best quality you can pick up is having a postive attitude no matter what the situation is. You will go further in life with a go-to attitude, then with a why-me attitude. I will see you at the Top!

Rationalizing Success Away

I was invited to do a Leadership workshop at a well known Fortune 100 company out in New Jersey. The all day event was geared toward their new crop of interns. At a point in my presentation I talked about the many reasons we come up with for not taking action. The many excuses we create in order to delay or defer acting on our plans to achieve success. I talked about how we have a bad habit of 'rationalizing' why something can't be done or be accomplished. We procrastinate because we convince ourselves that: It can't get done, I don't have enough time, I have too much to do already, I'm short on money so now isn't a good time, My dog's sick so I'm not in the mood to start anything right now, I'm not smart enough, I'm not qualified…, blah, blah, blah. You get the idea! We rationalize why we can't get going. Did you ever break up the word 'rationalize'? The ability to 'ration' 'lies' to ourselves. That's what we do when we come up with all kinds of excuses of why we can't do something or why we haven't started on what needs to get done. We feed ourselves small doses of lies every day; to the point where we convince ourselves not to ACT. Later on in this leadership workshop, a student asked a question about how to network into a job outside his current area of concentration. I responded by asking him what were some of the obstacles stopping him. He responded with a litany of excuses of why he wasn't able to do it (offices are not in the same building, hard to get a hold of people, it’s a big company, etc). But each excuse, as I bluntly pointed out to him, was just that, an excuse. These were inconveniences, NOT obstacles. Huge difference! I then questioned his commitment for change (i.e., how bad he wanted it). He stared at me in a way that indicated he had gotten the point. You see none of his excuses for networking and meeting people outside his group were valid. He was simply 'rationalizing' why he wasn't doing it. I too have been a victim of 'rationing-lies' to myself and procrastinating. But over the years I've gotten better at catching myself doing it and forcing myself to take action even when my mind wants to convince me otherwise. I've concluded that dreams don't dissipate over night. The reason many people will never achieve their goals or realize their dreams is because they 'rationalize' them away, bit by bit, day by day, week by week and so on. Every year we make new resolutions only to relinquish them, not all at once, but slowly through the impotent-laden rhetoric of rationalization. Every moment you delay in starting your life's mission, that's one less day you have to work with. So my questions to you is this, "What have you been 'rationalizing' away?" "What dreams or goals have you been deferring, waiting for the right moment or timing? Take action...don't rationalize your success away! Create a Vision

As you begin a new year, I would like to encourage you to create a vision for your life. A vision is much more than setting a goal. I rarely became inspired when I was a child. However, there was the one movie I loved that would touch my soul every time I watched it. It was the movie “Rocky III”. No one ever knew this, and it is funny to say this now, but after every “Rocky” movie I would go to the bathroom and shadow box the mirror as though I was an awesome boxer like Rocky. My grandfather and my father were both amateur boxers, so I grew up watching boxing. One reason why I loved the movie “Rocky” was because he over came what he was most afraid of, and that was to lose. Do you believe in yourself that much, that no matter what happens to you, you will get back up, and move forward toward that which you want. One of my favorite high school teachers was Capt. Nick. He was my NJROTC (Naval Junior Reserves Officers Training Corps) teacher. He wrote in my senior yearbook what he told me every year for four years, “Press On!” “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan, 'Press on,' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” --Calvin Coolidge So I will tell you to “Press On” keep moving forward and never give up. The lack of money is a blueprint error. Have you ever tried to play a video game and you wanted to go to a certain area and the game would not let you go any further. That game was programmed by the programmer to only allow you to go so far. No matter how hard you tried you could not keep going. You had to turn around and go where the game was programmed to allow to go. Well, that is what exactly what has happened for many people who seem to never have money in their life. Some where along their path from childhood and all throughout adulthood they were programmed with money limitations. People are programmed by TV, parents, teachers, churches, friends, and until the programmer reprograms their "money blueprint" they will continue to struggle with money throughout their life. If a game programmer wanted to change a paticular part of the game he/she would go and change the game codes. That is what needs to be done if someone keeps finding themselves broke. There are errors in their "money blueprint". These errors are the beliefs someone holds about money. In order to change the errors and correct them, you need to find out what limiting money beliefs you currently hold. Without changing your limiting money beliefs you will continue to try, and try, and try, to make more money, but like the video game, you are programmed to go so far when it comes to money and you will continue to be held back from where you want to go, and where you want to go is to be financially free. I believe it is our God-given right to be wealthy, and to enjoy the finest things this world has to offer. We were born with a passion within our soul, and with a unique gift to add joy to other people's lives. When we live out our passion, there is harmony in the one living their passion and the one receiving the love that comes from that passion. The word "money" can stir a lot of emotion for some people. I have seen people cry loudly about what the lack of money has done to them. I also have witnessed how people have refused to believe they don't deserve to have money. On the flip side, I have also seen how once people take the time to discover why they don't have money, change their monry limiting beliefs to come to make a lot of money, and become financially free. Let me share a brief story. I will remember this day for the rest of my life. It was a day like no other, but there was nothing unusual. I was preparing myself to ask my mother, whose parents are both Mexican, and her first language was Spanish, if I could have some money to go out with my friends. I would have to prepare myself to ask my mother for money because asking my mother for money was like trying to get into White House without approval, no matter how many times you say please! it isn't going to happen. Like usual she said no! This paticular time I got so upset that I told her to stop her business and get a REAL JOB! Then we would have money! What my mother told me next I would never forget. I will share with you later on what she said to me that day. Now at my young age I did not understand her. I did not want to hear anything but “yes, here is some money”. But little did I know that my mom had it right all along. The Spanish Language Leads the Way!

One day I was talking to my mother about how she came to speak english so well. My mother has a lot of stories about growing up, but one she will never forget is when she saw her friends getting into trouble for speaking spanish. In my mother's high school in California, they would get into as much trouble for speaking spanish as someone would for getting into a fight. If a teacher heard you speaking spanish, they would yank your arm and drag you to the Principals office. Times have changed. Almost everyday I read about in either a newspaper, magazine, newsletter, or article talking about how they are going to market to the Hispanic population more. Corporations, Companies, and small businesses have started to open their eyes more and more to the fact that Hispanic/Latino(s) have big buying power. That is why you we see a lot more products come with english and spanish translations. From the times when people were not allowed to speak spanish to now where companies want people who can speak spanish. Now that's what I am talking about!

Success During the Holiday Season's

Wow! Time does go by fast. It has been two weeks since my last post. Time has been flying for me. Since Thanksgiving I have been very busy. My latest project listcrusade.com has been doing very well. I am one of the Co-Founder's of listcrusade.com We have been able to get 52 of the best in Personal Development and Internet Marketing to share their best techniques with us. This is one of my best projects so far. Last weekend I was up in the Seattle area attending T. Harv Ecker's "Millionaire Mind Intensive" seminar. We did an interview with T. Harv Ecker and it was so awesome I had to go to his seminar. I will have to share someday everything I learned at the seminar. It was so amazing I have recommended it highly to my fellow listcrusade.com Co-Founders. During the holiday's it can be somewhat difficult to remain focus on your goals. One thing I do is constantly asking myself "is this going to help me get any closer to my goal". If it's no, I start doing something that will. So remain focus. Remember too, this time shall pass, and what you do now will move you forward to something that will outlast this month. Happy Holiday's.

I hope you had a very Happy Thanksgiving! Every Thanksgiving I am reminded of how Thanksgiving was a huge family get together. When I say huge I am not kidding. My grandparents on my mother side had 12 kids, yes! Twelve! So, there were around 50-60 plus people at my grandparents house for Thanksgiving every year growing up. Can you imagine that? It was always fun to play around with my cousins and drive all the "adults" mad because we would run in & out the house. Ahh, the good ol' days. Now I live a state away from my family and I don't see them as often as I would like. All my cousins have their families now and Thanksgiving is not as big as it once was. This year we had Thanksgiving at my sister-in-laws house. There were about 20 people. Great family! I am a lucky one, I have great in-laws :-) Now, on to what this blog is all about.

One of the first things that contributed to my success was taking "responsibility" for where I was at in life. I had to take responsibility for where at was in life; my debt, bills, my marriage, my personal life, everything. Everything that was going on in my life was, in some way or another, created by me. I got married when I was just 21, four days shy of being 22. Most people prefer to wait a little longer. I was happy as can be and so was my wife. Well little did I know that things would start creeping in. You know, all the warnings you usually get before getting married. One day I would make the mistake of not doing something the way she wanted, or vice versa. Then other arguements would start happening. "I wish I had never got married so young" was a comment I would make to myself. I could come up with all the reasons why my marriage was not doing so well, make all the excuses that I never had a good role model, or no one ever told me how to be a good husband. There was one thing I could do. I could start taking responsibility for where my marriage was at, and do something about it. So I did. I began to read books. Find people to model after, and ask questions from people who have had a successful marriage. This is something everyone could do. Some people will tell you up & down how they did this and they did that, but when it comes right down to it, they did not take any responsibility. They blamed someone or something else. They played the blame game. "You don't know my situation", is what some will say. You are right! But a comment like that is exactly my point. Some people just want to blame, and as long as people want to blame, they will never grow and take charge of their life. The first thing we all need to do is take responsibility for where we are right now. And by taking responsibility we then have the POWER to change where we are to where we want to be. I am excited to start this blog. A friend of mine suggested that I start a blog about my success in business and in life, and I how I may be able to help other Hispanic's rise to the TOP! It is my sincere desire to start sharing my experiences, where I came from, and what changes I needed to make to get to where I am now. I am not at the least where I want to be.
